I PASSED MY SCHOLARSHIP PROBATION! so grateful. have been worried about this for half a year. results was finally out today, and i managed to meet the requirement. *phew*
really thankful for people around me who're always there to encourage me and to give me moral support. this sem has been a tough one. and i'm just glad that my friends have so much faith in me. i made it. yes, i made it. i know i have been very pessimistic about this whole issue the whole sem. and this pessimism kinda affected a lot of things.
but, there's one less thing to be emo about at the moment. =)
holidays are over, and have been doing internship for the past 2.5 weeks. interning at a company, uct engineering, helping out for their bulk vaccine plant for GSK at tuas. some interesting facts abt my internship:
- it is at TUAS. pick up is at 7.30am at BOONLAY. so i'll have to wake up at 5.30am, leave hall at 6.15am to be able to reach boon lay on time. (there goes my biological clock again. looks like it's getting back to wat it's supposed to be.. no more sleeping at 4am. no more waking up at 10am too.)
- it's at a CONSTRUCTION SITE. attire: casual, equipped with safety gears such as HELMETS, GOGGLES & SAFETY BOOTS. how interesting. i see banglas everyday (oh trust me, they're interesting ppl. and i'm picking up bangla language.aiyoh.. but my memory very bad. can't really rmb.. haha. )
- there're rather interesting ppl at work. engineers, project manager, safety officer, fellow interns. ppl of different nationalities (prcs, britains, philipinos, germans etc), ppl of my age, and ppl who're much older.. just rather diversified group of ppl working within the same vicinity.
- it's not really related to what i'm studying, to be honest, it's not related at all. but i believe i'll be able to gain somehow or rather. picking up management skills, and i believe the networking helps in a way. and it's interesting to be really working in a real plant. although i'm not operating neither heat exchangers nor any reactors, there're still things to pick up and might still be useful in life.
- i'm getting better at excel. hahaha. (meaning i've been doing quite a lot of admin work..)
somehow, working life is kinda boring other than the real weekends that i enjoy. real weekends meaning, no work at all. just play all you want, slack as much as you want and sleep as much as u want. all you need is a great bunch of friends to hang out with. and i'm glad i still have a bunch of friends to hang out with every weekend. haha. last last weekend was wala-wala, brewerkz, mentoring, edmond's bday celebration, shopping, squash and floorball.. last weekend, drinking session in tianglim's room (funny things happened.haha. wayyyyy too hilarious. eddie was DRUNK! our first time seeing eddie so drunk. haha.), basketball, shopping! and i'm getting broke from the great singapore sale.
with s41, celebrating the gay mushroom edmond teo's bday.
met up with some friends over the weeks. met up with heat exchanger group mates for a farewell dinner for christiane, the german exchange girl from our group. we had dinner at a indian vegetarian restaurant, annalakshmi. this restaurant is rather different from other restaurant in the way that you can order as much as you want (provided we finish them of course), and we leave paying as much as we want too. and the food is really good.
5th of may, 2008. is certainly a day to remember. at least for me.. haha.. too many good things happened on tat day. hee.
- I HAD MY LAST PAPER FOR THE SEMESTER.. it was the day, that marked the end of my 2nd yr in NUS. 2 horrible yrs. and 2 more to go.
- met up with mrs gan and huilian for lunch at holland v. first time tat we met up together! =) it was mrs gan's treat. =D and we had yoghurt ice cream! haha.
- went shopping with cindy! haha. haven't shopped for so long. and we went for movies after tat. watch iron man for $6! how cool is tat. ahaha.
- and we saw lita in town! haha.
- met up with foongyi for nice dinner. (finally no more biz canteen's food or hall dinner.. :P)
- flora passed her keyboard to me for the holidays, which means tat i have a keyboard to play during the holidays!
- i completed some application forms for exchange tat was long overdue. oops.
- packed up to go home!
came back the day after exams. met up with eunice the following day. tagged along with her friends, who were supposed to be working on their assignments. interesting piece of assignment that required them to go to various places in KL to observe the popular culture. her friends are quite an interesting bunch of ppl to hang out with. we went to little india in KL, sungai wang, times square, and pavillion..
eunice and I.. nice malaysian food.. clockwise: putu mayam from little india, claypot chicken rice, hokkien mee, asam laksa..
j-co doughnuts! wheee.. so colourful and yummy. and we were drenched under the super heavy rain. the umbrellas only managed to save us by a little bit.
