i've been tagged by alice...

Five minutes to yourself: how would you spend them, ideally?
five minutes is a bit too short for me.. if u wan me to spend it ideally, just listen to a song on my mp3.. a nice and soothing song.. preferably some song which can bring back good memories.. =)

Five bucks to spend right now; how would you spend it?
buy a pirated cd in pasar malam.. but i think can't get with five bucks.. it's usually six.. maybe can try bargaining..

Five items in your house you could part with, right now, that you hadn't thought of already?
well, actually if i haven't thought of the items then i won't even mention it.. but just to answer the question, let me think.. hmm.. maybe my vj lecture notes.. haha.. brought them home with me, but it's permanently in the cupboard.. 2nd item would be my soft toys beside my bed.. 3rd, my other pairs of earrings.. i've been wearing only one pair of earring since i-dunno-when when i have like more than 10 other pairs.. 4th item, tk uniform.. it's somewhere but i dunno where.. i won't ever wear tt again.. just kept it to remind me of the oh-so-green uniform.. haha.. last item, my cassettes.. it's been forever since i last played those cassettes.. i'll just keep the one tt suetlee gave me..

Five items you absolutely, positively could never part with in your house?
my mp3 and my laptop, cause it's my most valuable thing right now.. my passport, since i need it to go to s'pore.. my pillow, cause i can't sleep without it.. haha.. lastly, my specs.. cause i'm blind without it..

Five words you love?
oh no.. this is diff.. i dun really love any words.. since i came up with my yeanching language a while ago.. and it has only 2 words in the yeanching dictionary.. 'whee' and 'haha'.. now i have to think of the other 3 words tt i love.. ermm.. 'huh?', since i've been so blur lately; 'heyz', the word which is used to initiate most conversations; 'nitez', the word to end most conversations.. haha..

Five people i tag?
Eunice, Su San, Eddie, Lita and i-dunno-who-else-to-tag.. most of my friends have been tagged by alice.. haha.. and the rest of my friends either dun blog or i dunno tt they blog or they've been tagged before... haha.. oh, maybe can tag yeekiat! okay, i got 5 ppl liao.. hahha.. wheee...

1. i got into NTU chemical and biomolecular engineering
2. i got called for interview for the same course for NUS (actually this is not really a good news.. ) which means tt i'm gg to s'pore (this is the good news)!
3. mingli will be in KL tmr!
4. got a lift from her dad back to s'pore..
5. met zee, seetha and emi yesterday..
6. will be meeting dwee in s'pore..
7. wanna crash eunice's place to join them for few bridge sessions.. hehe.. haven't play for so long..
8. got leave fr work for 1 week.. maybe i should try asking for 2 weeks, then i can stay longer and can even join the potluck with them at eunice's place.. but i'm gonna miss the trip to sunway lagoon with jiayong, leepeng, valerie and peisim.. well, see how things will go..
9. and eunice stays in tampines.. one mrt stop away fr simei! haha.. dun need to travel too far!

Dear friends,
As some of you may know, this January I went to Nepal alone for 5 weeks to volunteer mainly at an orphanage, a school and at a factory >run by a Singaporean lady, which employs destitute, abused and widowed women. This Singaporean lady is my friend Josephine who went to Nepal 10 years ago to become a missionary. One day Josephine met a Nepali woman, Dilu, who had her face poured on with acid by her alcohlic husband. From the limited Nepali Josephine knew at that time, Josephine understood only 3 words, "God... dream .... sewing-shop". Josephine thought that Dilu was trying to tell her that she wanted to open a sewing shop. With the little money that Josephine had at the time, she eventually helped Dilu to open a sewing shop. It was not until many years later when Josephine started to head the sewing shop that Josephine realised that Dilu was actually trying to say, "God gave me a dream. He said that in 3 days time, you would open a sewing shop and I would work for you." From that day some 10 yrs ago, Josephine has been providing employment for many of such women, giving them shelter from abusive husbands, and money to earn a living. Once when I was in Nepal, one of Josephine's workers fell ill with a lung infection. She went to visit her personally and bought her antibiotics and vitamins and prayed with her to give her some emotional and spiritual support. I was shocked when I went into this sick woman's "house" because it was not a "house". This sick woman lived in a room, which houses a bed, a kitchen stove on the floor and a small study table. The room was shared by her and her 2 sons. Ventilation was so bad that her germs were probably spreading to her children. These conditions are considered good by Nepali standards.

Josephine has 2 factories, one selling handmade soap and paper products, one selling nepali ethnic craft products. Most of her customers are Europeans supporting the fair trade system.

Nepal is not doing well now. Recently, they are having many riots and many innocent people are killed. There is curfew everyday and the people cannot go out or they will be shot on sight. Many injuries are sustained in the head. Food prices have risen five times, there is no oil, no doctors and no banks open. While I was in Nepal, 1 man was shot on sight within 5 minutes of my vicinity because he broke the curfew. He was only a university student. Four weeks into my stay there, there was also a bomb blast 8 minutes away from the orphanage I stayed at.

Today, I received an email from Josephine that she has been imprisoned. On one hand, she tells me she is happy for the Nepalis because they are finally putting up protests to demand for a corruption-free government. On the other hand, freedom and democracy have a price to pay.

There is very little we can do to help them now. But I would like to ask your help in 2 areas. One is to please pray for Nepal and their situation, as well as to pray for a breakthrough in their government. Please help to pray for a clean and righteous leader to step up, the people's safety and God's protection upon them, because Nepal is forcing every family to put out one family member to participate in the demonstrations, which will certainly put them in danger. People shot with rubber bullets die because no doctors can provide service. Please also help to pray for more food and commodities to reach nepal as the roads are blocked off now. I don't know how long more this will continue, but according to the orphanage that I stayed at, they only have enough food for the orphans for another month or so. After that one month, I don't know how they will eat as food is scarce and expensive. Secondly, I would like to ask for your help in helping me support and publicise a book that I will hopefully be publishing sometime in July. I am painting and writing a picture book now, and the money raised will go to child sponsorship programs and student sponsorship programs for third world children, epsecially those in the Nepali orphanage where I was at. Some of the girls wer raped when young, have mentally unstable or very poor parents, or were simply abandoned at a young age. Many of them, however, realise that they have been picked up from the streets and given a new lease of life by God's grace and so many of them top their class. The books will be mainly sold in christian communities and churches, but a small number will be sold in bookstores. If we get more publicity, they may be sold more widely. If you could help, please let me know so when the book is out, I can pass you a few copies to help me sell to people you know. And if you happen to know anyone who may have contacts with journalists or magazine writers, please let me know as well... My hope is to raise awareness and money for the plight of these children in third world countries.

Thank you for your prayer and help. Please forward/ circulate this message to friends and people you know... The people, especially the prayerful christians in Nepal, are waiting for a breakthrough and a political change for the better.

Take care and God bless you all.

Love and prayer, waijia

well, somebody actually forwarded me this mail.. thought it would help more if i post it on my blog.. =)

damn happy today! went out with zee in the morning.. we were hanging around in midvalley.. then met eddie later for lunch.. it's been so long since we last hang out together.. then mingyun joined us after that cause she came to KL for few hours to shop.. haha.. can't believe i actually met her in KL.. so i was shopping with her after zee and eddie left.. and i think i psycho-ed zee and mingyun to buy a lot of stuff... zee left with a jacket and a miniskirt.. mingyun left with a skirt, a denim jacket and a baby t-shirt.. was so tired.. after sleeping for 5 hrs only yesterday..so i was sleeping throughout the whole train ride... damn irritating.. hate taking trains from KL back to klang..it's super slow.. and the journey takes around 1 hr.. minus the waiting time.. luckily i woke up just in time to alight..almost missed the stop..

the past whole week was well spent... mon, tue and wed, i was decorating my photo album.. but i still haven't finish decorating..so will spend the next whole week finishing it up.. and i started playing sims.. my sis's friend lent me her whole collection of sims and expansion packs..so i'll be quite occupied with it..

well, things have not been going quite well for work.. jiayong is quitting next month.. so i actually lost my source of transport to work.. might even quit the job if my mum refuse to send me to work..cause she's been telling me tt i should quit if jiayong quits.. sigh.. and i'm still okay with the job..just started to get used to the work and i'll have to quit soon? dunno lar.. see how it goes..

made a cheesecake on wed.. but i think i didn't put enough gelatine.. the cheese part couldn't solidify.. so i put the whole cake into the freezer.. it taste quite ok.. but looked quite gross lar.. so sad.. shall try some other time.. gonna get recipes for cookies fr jiayong next week.. shall try making cookies if i got the time lar.. haha..

was out with ding and jiayong on sat.. we went to one utama.. the main reason was to see sun yanzi.. well, it was jiayong's idea.. since she's a big fan of sun yanzi... since ding and I are not her fans, we were just taking photos.. haha.. the last time i met sun yanzi was at SAJC funfair last year.. i took some photos tt time too. and yupz, gave those photos to jiayong.. and i dun think i'll ever go for these things anymore.. can't stand the crowd.. argh. esp those kids.. usu i love kids, but not when they're irritating.. like my younger brother..

anyway, i bought 2 pencils, which i thought was damn cute.. but my mum was saying tt i'm still so childish.. waste money on stuff like these.. but i like it.. so dun care.. i'm just being young at heart.. haha..

after reading yeekiat's blog yesterday, i went and checked my junk mail.. and yupz, i did receive the mail fr NUS regarding ASEAN.. phew.. now tt the scholarship is confirmed.. just have to wait for the application outcome..

i was looking at some family photo tt was taken when i was few months old.. and was thinking, 'who's tt kid right there?' and i realised tt it was me.. haha.. dun look like me at all..

oh, last week, my hp have been giving me weird problems.. sometimes, the screen will just go blank.. then few days ago, it decided to give way.. so the phone is on it's way to the manufacturer for repair.. dunno when i'll get it back.. but currently, i'm phone-less.. will be getting some phone to use for the mean time.. hope i'll get back my phone soon.. i dun wanna spend money to buy a new phone right now..

and so i was using my sis's phone to sms dodo yesterday night... then i went to sleep.. i forgot to off her phone.. well, my sis has this habit of switching off her phone every night.. not me.. after a while, i was awaken by this ringing tone.. which i realised was coming fr my sis's phone.. so i got up and there was a message.. i read the message and it took me quite a while to process the message which read, 'yc, it's dwee here lar.. i dun rmb chatting with u just now.. and i'm watching friends now.. maybe someone used my identity to chat with u.. muahhahaha' then only i realised tt i sent the message to the wrong number.. lesson learnt, never send sms-es when u're half asleep.. hehe..

another week is over.. well, i'll be gg back to my same routine again this week.. mon, slack.. tue, give annabel tuition.. wed, thur, fri, work.. looking forward to next week.. mingli coming to KL! whee.. i'll be meeting my 'girlfriend'.. haha..

i'm trying to not make Garfield look dilligent and hardworking.. haha.. although i'm lazy, i think i can't beat garfield in being lazy.. =)

help.. my legs are aching.. have been standing too much.. close to 12 hrs for the past 2 days.. phew.. this job ain't easy.. killing my legs.. was so afriad tt the doctor would scold me.. i've been rather clumsy.. and everyone has been warning me about the ever so moody doctor.. who drove away so many other staffs before me.. haha.. i'm trying to be more alert so tt i won't be the next one to kena scold.. last week daphne alr got scolded till she cried.. i dun wanna be the next one to cry in tt clinic.. haha..

today, a patient came with her father.. and doctor was sort of angry cause this girl smokes.. so her teeth are rather yellow.. and she have been missing appointments... well, time is very precious for us.. even 3 minutes counts.. we'll curse any late patients.. cause it'll ruin our breaktime.. and it'll make doctor angry.. so end of the day, we'll be the one who will be scolded.. talking bout the girl, she's only 18.. taking A lvls in taylors.. and she's alr smoking and drinking.. wat a waste.. wat's the point of having nice teeth frm braces with stains?

after working at the clinic for 3 weeks, i somehow find some similarities btwn wearing braces and contact lens.. the main reason of ppl choosing to put on braces or contact lens is to look good.. (well for braces, maybe it's a long term reason.. ) and to do this 2 things hygiene is an important factor.. discipline is another.. even before putting on braces for his patient, doctor would always ask, 'are u serious in putting on braces? it's a long term commitment.. u have to keep up with your appointments and be on time.. " then patients have to clean their teeth thoroughly as it is more difficult with the brackets on their teeth.. for contact lens, before and after wearing the lens, u have to rinse it with the solution (well, of course i often skip this step.. hehe.. ) and the lens have to be soaked at least 4 hrs b4 u can wear it again.. and lenses and solution have to be disposed after 30 days and 90 days respectively.. so if u're someone who can't be bothered abt personal hygiene and not well disciplined, pls dun try braces and contact lens.. dun make your life difficult and dun waste money..

i dunno wat to do, cause i'll nv be with u..

haven't been updating.. only one excuse.. LAZY.. haha.. well, my thurs and fris have been occupied by work.. weekends is the time to slack.. plus i'm teaching my cousin add math now.. so kinda busy rest of the days also.. haha..

was out with suet lee and the twins last sat.. we were hanging ard midvalley.. haven't seen then for months.. so suet was basically telling us abt her new crush.. haha.. interesting guy named chris.. too bad renuka wasn't ard.. or not she'll be talking bout her aaron (i think.. haha..) all the time.. then suetlee went to a salon somewhere outside the mall.. so i followed her.. the whole process of wash+cut+blow+treatment took 2 hrs.. so i was stoning there for 2 hrs.. reading 4 magazines while waiting.. the shocking part was the bill.. she paid like RM461 for everythin plus 1 bottle of shampoo and another hair mask or sth.. i was like O.O tt's like my 8 days pay eh.. gone just like tt... i wouldn't spend tt amt just for hair.. if it's on clothes still ok.. but hair.. ermm.. no thanks ar..

started my new job yesterday.. at an orthodontic clinic.. it wasn't tt bad.. better than stoning at home.. haha.. first, i get to make few friends... there were 6 of us.. me, jiayong, yeeling, leeping, daphne and valerie.. valerie is in charge of the counter for registration and stuff.. so, the rest of us are the one assisting the doctor...

i started out everything by learning the names of the instruments that are being used... have been trying to match the names with the instruments.. haha.. it's a bit difficult since i haven't been using too much of my brain lately.. haha.. but still trying to get used to stuff..

then was trying to differentiate all the different brackets (those metal stuff) being used for braces.. there are different brackets for every tooth.. and different for upper and lower jaw, as well as the right and left postition.. still look the same to me though.. haha.. and they're all so tiny.. =S

yeeling taught me how to make plaster models of patients' teeth.. haha.. and jiayong actually let me play with the machine to make retainers.. so fun..

hope to learn more things next week.. have to wait till thurs... aiyor.. i only work on thurs and fri..cause i only work in klang branch.. oh, the doctor have 2 other branches.. one in subang and another one in taman OUG.. so i'll have the rest of the week free.. actually he's been asking me whether i wanna help out in subang.. i won't really mind.. it's near asia cafe.. nice food.. haha.. and it's also near to inti and taylors' college.. but then have a bit of prob with transport and my mum dun wan me to go so far.. and my dad only allow me to work cause i told him tt it's twice a week..
