another new start of a week.. which means another week of gg to sch from 12.30pm to 7pm.. sleeping at 2am and waking up at 10am... but i guess this week will be a bit different from last week since chinese new year is ard the corner... plus it's english week in sch.. and there'll be cross country gg on on fri... and well, my driving test on fri too! means, i won't be able to attend cross country.. i wouldn't mind.. cause i was stationed at a location as station master, with the most intimidating person in convent, ZALEHA!! oops.. hope she's not reading this..
the most common thing tt i've been hearing from students... "teacher, do u think tt the form 2 girl, the one with spiked hair, is cute?" "teacher, so-and-so thinks she's cute" etc etc.. sigh..
was in 1K tt day.. it was my ex-class.. i was in 1K and 3K.. both years we used the same classroom.. then the students were decorating the notice board in class.. then i realised tt the paint tt we sprayed on those notice board when we were in form3 was still there..
was reading a book yesterday (and today... just completed it a while ago).. it was abt this 2 friends who started having a lot of conflicts after they moved in to stay in a same apartment.. well, ppl always say tt it's not adviceable to choose one of your closest friends to be your roommate.. and i think i somewhat agree with this.. u'll start to see the other side of your friend.. and be not-so-good friend anymore.. i rmb cikgu zain telling us tt in order to know a friend really well, u should spend at least one night together.. and i think tt this is very true..
have been quite (2nd)homesick lately.. (2nd)home as in s'pore.. hehe.. i mean, we were supposed to treat it like a 2nd home right? have been thinking abt all the great times tt i had in s'pore for the past 4 yrs.. well, i certainly missed ecp... it's the place where i spent most of my weekends when i was in sec 3 and 4.. actually i've been spending most of my time there whenever i feel down or bored.. i can even sit at bedok jetty for half and hour just counting the number of planes fly by..
have u ever seen a pig fly? can u show me one?
eunice, me, kongjien and eddie at KLCC.. was wasting some time at the park to avoid the jam during peak hour..
"teacher!!! hello!!!" tt was wat 4 of my students screamed on top of the overhead bridge when i was waiting for my transport to go home yesterday...
some interesting facts abt convent:
- the weekly competition for 'kelas terbersih' (cleanest class) and 'kelas bertanggungjawab' (direct translation: responsible class, ie the dirtiest class) is still going on.. but one new thing is, the monitor for kelas bertanggungjwab have to go on stage to make a pledge which sounds sth like this.. "kami, murid-murid dari kelas ... berikrar, tidak akan membuang sampah merata-rata tempat sebagai lambang komitment dan percintaan kami terhadap sekolah... "(we, students from class ... pledge not to anyhow throw rubbish, as a commitement and to show our love for the school...) i was practically laughing when i heard the students making the pledge during assembly on monday...
- there are no other teacher who're younger than 25 yrs old for afternoon session... and most of the teachers are malays.. so i've been hearing a lot of malay conversations troughout my time at the staff room... malay teachers wear baju kurung to school.. the other non-malays, either wear sari or punjabi suit (for indians) or puffed sleeves kinda blouse with long skirts (for chinese)... oh, and there're only 2 male teachers... the rest all females..
- classrooms are not air-conditioned... and the worst thing is, in 1K, one out of the 2 fans is not working... sigh...
- i'm commonly known as 'yeanmay's sister'... everywhere i go i can hear whispers "itu kakak yeanmay..." "yakah? jangan tipu lah..." "betul... tak tipu, awak tanya yeanmay sendiri lah..." ("tt's yeanmay's sister.." "really, dun bluff larhh..." "really, if u dun believe, ask yeanmay yourself..") the teachers also always say, "kakak yeanmay ya? padanlah mukanya serupa..." (yeanmay's sister? no wonder both of u look alike..) the first question tt students always ask me, "teacher, are u yeanmay's sister?"
- 1E is the noisiest class among the 5 classes tt i teach.. the gang of 4 who sit behind of the class is almost driving me nuts... it's like having multiples of yeanching... hehe... but actually they're quite fun to hang ard with, outside class...
- i can be a perfect translator if i continue to teach 1G... "cikgu, apa perkataan melayu untuk ___ " they ask for translation for the simplest kind of words like 'the, river, peas, paste, melt, cool etc...' even my primary 1 brother can speak better english than most of them, thanks to disney channel... oh, and i have to translate english to malay and chinese... good chance to brush up my chinese also...
Went for my first day of work on fri.. Got my timetable.. sigh, I have to teach 5 form 1 classes and 1 form 2 class.. teaching science.. when I went into 1L, I saw Uncle Frankie’s daughter, Belinda.. haha.. it feels weird sitting in the same room as all the ex-teachers.. haha… most of the teachers are new.. but there are some old teachers who’re still ard.. like tt zaleha.. haha. The teacher tt I hate most.. disgusting teacher.. eeww.. and the principal is new.. and she’s damn irritating.. it’s quite fun to teach form 1.. maybe because all of them are still innocent.. haha.. easier to control..
Went to the Star edu fair with some friends.. it’s like one of those normal edu fairs that i attended in s’pore.. but I met the cute guy from taylor’s business school! Haha.. it’s like my third time meeting him alr.. first was at taylor’s college open day, second was at midvalley and yesterday was the third time.. I dun think he recognizes me lar.. but he’s cute and funny.. zee came to the edu fair with freddy too.. met them for a while.. but we went on separate ways cause we were all looking for diff stuff..
After the edu fair, went to shiyan’s house for her birthday party.. she’s the first person to hit 20 yrs old among my peers.. haha.. she invited some of her college friends as well.. so made few new friends yesterday.. met my primary sch tuition friend, ee von.. tried to talk to her but gave up cause either she’s not interested to talk or we just have nothing in common.. told some of them that I’m teaching in convent.. the first thing tt everyone asked was “is zaleha still there?” haha.. I guess we all hated her so much last time..
i got a job! gonna teach chem in convent, my ex-secondary sch.. and it's form 5 ( equivalent to sec 4).. one bad news, the syllabus is in malay!!!! hahaha.. i dunno how i'm gonna teach.. shit.. i think i have to study a lot a lot a lot before i go and teach or not the students will end up teaching me... but nvm, i'm still quite excited.. haha.. gonna start teaching on the 16th jan i think.. so i still got 1 week to slack before i start work.. and i think i need to go revise all my chem stuff first.. =)
oh, my little brother finally went to primary 1 yesterday.. haha.. i accompanied my mum to send him to sch.. haha.. it was so many years ago when i stepped out of primary sch.. the kids are so cute! haha.. it's a boys sch.. sometimes i wonder why my parents prefer to send us to single sex sch.. i was in a girls' sch from primary 1 all the way to sec 4, which amounts to 10 years.. haha.. and i really enjoy being in a girls' sch.. ok, talking bout primary schools.. we were standing outside this class to wait for the morning session kids to finish their class.. when the bell rung, the kids stood up and queued along the aisle in class... then wished "terima kasih cikgu." i was laughing when i saw them queueing.. i can't even rmb when was the last time i actually thanked a teacher properly after class.. definitely not in VJ.. haha.. then when my brother went into his class, the first thing tt the teacher taught them is how to greet teachers. "selamat sejahtera cikgu"so cute.. haha..
spent my new year's eve and new year day at A Famosa Resort in Malacca.. was at the resort whole day on new years eve.. visited the safari.. watched all the animal show, bird show, elephant show.. haha... it sounds kiddy but actually it's kinda entertaining.. haha.. at night, while we were waiting for some animal parade to start, it started raining.. very heavily.. although i was under some shade, i was still wet.. didn't managed to stay at the cowboy town for countdown.. went back to the hotel room to change.. so sad.. but it was great to spend time with family members...
